As we have a rather lively Cocker Spaniel named Harvey, we are unfortunately unable to accept pets.

Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to accommodate younger children at Green Dragon House.

About us

After spending 8 years in rural Picardy running a successful B&B, we have recently relocated to beautiful East Devon - an area we have always loved. We had a wonderful time in France - we made some fantastic friends, and learned a lot about how to create a warm and welcoming environment for our guests. We would now like to offer you the same warm welcome at Green Dragon House. We hope to see you soon, Dianne & Jonathan (& Harvey the dog!)

Where we are

Green Dragon House is ideally located in the charming market town of Axminster. Turn left out of our front door and you’re a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and just 10 minutes’ stroll from the station. Turn right and you’ll find yourself crossing the River Axe and in beautiful open countryside in a matter of moments. The original River Cottage Canteen is virtually on our doorstep – only 5 minutes’ walk away (speak to us about getting a guest discount!) – while their HQ is just a few miles out of town. Lovely Lyme Regis is 5 miles to the south, and there’s plenty of fossil hunting to be had nearby, with easy access to the Jurassic Coast.

History

According to local history, there has been a Green Dragon at the foot of Castle Hill for centuries, with the current house standing on this site since the mid 19th century. We are right next door to The Old Brush Works – an important part of Axminster’s industrial history and now home to Jaffe et Fils Ltd, the last surviving feather dyers in the country. Green Dragon House has been a coaching inn, a pub and a hotel in its time – now it is a family home offering contemporary rooms with breakfast.
